Find Your Dream Job at Purdue!

There are many important factors to think about when choosing a college.  An important one to consider is a college’s career opportunities and services.  At Purdue, there are many resources to help you with picking and planning a career path, as well as finding your dream job!

The first resource that Purdue has is the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities (CCO).  The CCO can help you with basically anything that can pertain to your future career search.  They offer many services, such as resume review, practice interviews, and help with writing a cover letter.  They also post job listings online which students can apply to and hopefully get an interview from!  They also have services to help you choose and map out a major and career path.  The CCO also assists with what to do when negotiating job offers, and graduate school.  Finally, the CCO offers many seminars and lectures on a variety of topics related to careers.

Purdue also puts on a number of career fairs each year.  The big career fair that Purdue hosts is Industrial Roundtable.  Industrial Roundtable is a two day fair geared towards engineering majors in which hundreds of companies come to recruit Purdue students.  Some of the companies that came this year were General Motors, The Walt Disney Company, General Mills, PepsiCo, and Google, among 400+ others.  In the spring, the big engineering career fair is Expo, which is similar to Industrial Roundtable, but a little bit smaller.  In addition, throughout the year there are a number of smaller career fairs geared towards certain majors.

Purdue also has many research opportunities.  Many professors have research opportunities of their own and will ask for students to work for them throughout the year; students doing this can either get paid, or get class credits for their research.  Purdue also has the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (SURF), which is an opportunity for STEM majors to conduct research at Purdue over the summer.

For more information on all these opportunities, check out the links below!  Know of any other awesome career resources at Purdue, or have any good stories about the CCO or Industrial Roundtable?  Let us know in the comments!
