4 Reasons You'll FALL in Love with Purdue

Fall is a great season! It is finally sweater weather; there’s pumpkins and beautiful trees and hot apple cider. And being at Purdue makes it even better - here are some of my favorite things!


1. Campus Has Fall ~Vibes~

When fall hits campus, you know it! The leaves start to change colors and our campus becomes even more beautiful than it already was. I love to relax and take a break from studying by spending time outside or taking walks around campus with my friends.

2. Trips to Local Corn Maze

Each year, many student organizations and other groups plan trips to a nearby corn maze called Exploration Acres! In addition to a corn maze, they also have a pumpkin patch. Not only are these trips fun ways for students to explore what else the Greater Lafayette area has to offer, they serve as great photo opportunities in your favorite fall sweater. 

3. Purdue Traditions

Purdue has many on-campus traditions and often you will have a chance to try out many of them during BGR (freshman orientation program)! These include fountain runs, den pops, and many more. But these aren’t just for your first few weeks on campus, make sure to continue them throughout the year, and what better time than during fall?

4. Get Involved in the Community

After spending your first few weeks getting acclimated to campus, it’s always nice to try something new during the fall season! Volunteering with the local community is a great way to do that. From local food banks to animal shelters, there are many ways to do this. One of my favorites is Winterization - a volunteer event put on specifically for Purdue students to help those in Lafayette prepare their homes for the upcoming winter. What a great way to give back and get involved!

Jenn and her friends after the Thankgiving dinner Food is an integral part of our day. For some people, the very first thing they do in the morning is eat breakfast. I personally prefer my cup of coffee to a stack of waffles. Nonetheless, food has the power to pick up a bad mood, enhance a good mood, and even ease the stress you are feeling about exams and homework. The awareness I have of how food impacts my mood is recently found since I started college in August. at home I usually came home to my mom or dad making something delicious in the crockpot. Top 10 Extracurriculars Purdue Students Want You to Join Outside of Engineering

1. Purdue University Dance Marathon (PUDM):  The biggest student-run organization on campus! You can join as a dancer, where you get to fundraise leading up to the 18-hour long event or be even more involved and join a committee! Some of the committees include Riley Relations, where you fundraise to sponsor events for the Riley families throughout the year & are paired with a Riley family for the night of the event, Special Events Committee, where you organize 5K’s and other events around campus throughout the year, and so much more! 2. Boiler Gold Rush (BGR):  Whether it be as a new student, a team leader (TL), or even a Supervisor, there are so many ways to get involved with BGR!
