Making the Most of Purdue's Career Tools

Image
When visiting, researching, and applying to colleges, I paid particular attention to career resources offered and statistics associated with securing jobs or continuing education upon graduation. After all, the whole objective of attending college is to secure an education that will catapult you into the field or position that you want, right? When visiting Purdue, I was impressed that over 90% of graduates had employment or continued education locked down upon graduation. This is largely due to the many tools and opportunities that are offered to Purdue students, including the Center for Career Opportunities (CCO), career fairs, and Access Alum events for Purdue women engineers. Pictured above is me and a water control structure at my NRCS internship T he CCO is Purdue’s elite career counseling service available to all students. They have both students and experts on staff to assist with resumé preparations, mock interviews, advice for negotiating and weighing job offers, and even a c

De-stress, Get Fit, and Have Fun on Campus

Purdue’s engineering curriculum is challenging, and it’s important to maintain a good work-life balance for your mental and physical health! Outside of classes, there are lots of outlets on campus to get your mind off of school and allow you to de-stress. Check out two of my favorites below! My friends and I (bottom right) after winning an intramural sand volleyball game freshman year with our floor’s team! One of the best decisions I made at Purdue was joining intramural sports teams. Purdue offers over 40 different intramural sports over both fall & spring semesters. They have sports such as basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, kickball, inner-tube water polo, and more! Usually hall floors organize teams, but you can also form a team with your friends. I met some of my closest friends by signing up for my floor’s IM sand volleyball team freshman year, and now we sign up to play as a team again every fall. Since then, my friends and I have played IM soccer, dodgeball, and

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that we are thankful for. We asked the WE Link LT why they're thankful for Purdue, and here are their responses: The WE Link Team outside of Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering "I’m so grateful for Purdue’s plethora of study abroad opportunities! There are over 200 programs to more than 45 countries. I first learned about these programs at Purdue's large study abroad fair. I also worked with Purdue's advisors in the study abroad office to help me plan out my study abroad experience. I had the opportunity of studying abroad after my freshman year during Maymester through the Honors College in Northern Italy. I’m so thankful that I was able to have an eye-opening experience abroad and then return home for my internship during the rest of the summer." -JT Sarisky, CE '22 "I am thankful for the opportunities Purdue has provided me within its curriculum. I have gotten to work on project
