Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Being a student at Purdue University, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities, experiences, and communities that have made my time here so far unforgettable. Here are just a few of the things that make Purdue so special and why I’m so thankful to call this place home. Joining this helped me find my first circle of friends providing a sense of community when everything else felt so new. In the Women in Engineering Learning Community, I found a support system of peers who shared my passions and challenges. Having these connections gave me the confidence to get through my first year. With the semester wrapping up, we are starting to get into the most stressful time of the school year: finals. This is one of the most stressful times for high school and college students. The anticipation of what grade you are going to get is starting to boil over. An exam that's worth 40% of your grade is daunting, especially if you are teetering between 2 letter grades. But, I am here to tell you that it will be okay and give you some tips about de-stressing this finals session. Take a Break and Remember It’s Okay Studying is extremely important to succeed in your finals, but it is not realistic or healthy to study for 12 hours a day. You will burn out, and more importantly it is not healthy. At the end of the day it is okay if you don’t get the grade you wanted. Something that I like to remind myself is that my worth and ability is not defined by my performance on an exam, and this is the case for you too. No matter how stressed you may be about the outcome of your final exams ...

Purdue Whimsy

Purdue, being a Big 10 University, is home to a lot of school spirit. Besides pride in our sports from basketball to volleyball to football, Purdue students are also passionate about the campus history and traditions that have been forged over the past 150 years. In this post, the blog team is highlighting some of the Purdue spirit traditions you might not have heard about. Purdue Traditions and Orientation One of the unique things about Purdue is the various traditions practiced by students, alumni, and families. One such tradition or architectural wonders of Purdue is the Clapping Circle. Located in the common green space between the Wetherill Chemistry building, Stewart Hall, and Purdue Memorial Union, the Clapping Circle is a common stop on tours. The Clapping Circle consists of brick and elevated grass and tree sections and when one claps, a squeak can be heard echoing around the space. Now graduated, intrigued students have done analyses on the location to discover that the squea...
