Why Applying Early Action to Purdue Is Worth It

It’s that time of year again- college applications, essays, and big decisions about where you’ll spend the next four years. If you’re dreaming about becoming an engineer, there’s one date you’ll definitely want to remember: November 1st - Purdue’s Early Action deadline.

Applying early is the best way to make sure you’re considered for Purdue Engineering- one of the most respected and opportunity-filled programs in the country. When I was applying, I knew I wanted to be somewhere that would challenge me, surround me with passionate people, and give me endless ways to grow. Purdue was that place from the moment I stepped on campus.

Why Purdue Engineering?

Choosing Purdue means choosing opportunity. Whether it’s internships, research, design teams, or study abroad, there’s something for everyone. You’ll meet people who inspire you, challenge you, and remind you why you fell in love with the thought of becoming an engineer in the first place. The best part is that early action doesn't mean you have to have it all figured out on day one. Purdue encourages you to explore, try new things and discover what you enjoy most.

One of the ways Purdue helps with that is through the First-Year Engineering (FYE) Program. Every student in engineering begins their journey here, taking foundational courses that prepare you for all engineering disciplines while giving you time to find your fit. It's a year to explore, grow, and discover where your passion lies. I started out thinking Mechanical Engineering was the path for me, and after going through FYE, I knew I was exactly where I belonged. I’ve seen both sides, though- some of my friends began unsure of which direction to take, while others were completely certain. Through the FYE program, they all had the chance to explore and ultimately confirm their choice with confidence.

I can't talk about 'Why Purdue' without mentioning the Women in Engineering Community. It's a big part of my story. WiE played a major role in my decision to come to Purdue. The community of women engineers at Purdue is inspiring and truly a place where you're supported, empowered, and encouraged to lead. The program has exceeded my expectations, helping me grow both personally and professionally. What I love most is how it has come full circle. The program that took me in and provided unwavering support and space to network, now allows me to give back and mentor incoming students, helping them to navigate their own first steps in engineering.

Whatever your reason - Purdue's reputation for engineering, the chance to explore through the FYE program, or the supportive community you’ll find here, Purdue provides hands-on learning, real world applications from the very start, and the tools to grow into the engineer you're meant to be.

Purdue has inspired me to keep pushing forward, not just as an engineer, but as a person. The opportunities that have been provided to me are not only in part to my hard work, but to the knowledge that I come from one of the most prestigious engineering programs. If you’re looking for a place that will do the same for you, Purdue Engineering is it.

So, take that small step on November 1st and apply for Early Action. Because every Giant Leap starts with one small step.
