Weighing Your Options

Now that you have finished applying to colleges, it is about time that you will start hearing back from some of them!  It is always so exciting to hear you got into a college.  As you start getting accepted to schools, here are some things to think about when deciding where to go to college.

1.   1.  Academics: We are all going to college to get an education, so an important thing to think about when considering schools is the academics.

  •      When getting into schools, you should be looking at the programs that each school offers and see how their academics stack up.
  •       For example, Purdue is an excellent school of engineering and our engineering program is ranked 9th in the nation; we also have the number one program for agricultural and biological engineering!  Check out the link below to see how the rest of Purdue Engineering ranks!

2    2. Student Life:  It is very important to consider the student life of any college you’re going to, as you will spend the next 4 years living and learning there.

  •      When looking at the colleges you got into, it might be helpful to compare the student life and extracurriculars of each to school to see if there are things that you would be interested in getting involved in.
  •      Purdue has over 1000 clubs and organizations for students to be a part of!

3    3. Residence Halls:  When you go to college, you will most likely live in the residence halls there.

  •      Seeing as this will be your new home, it is important to take a school’s residence halls into consideration when comparing schools.
  •      Make sure to look online to see pictures of what each residence hall looks like, or even better yet go to the school and take a tour of the residence  halls!
  •      Purdue has a variety of residence halls to live in, and our dining courts were ranked 14th overall for “best campus food” by the Princeton Review!
