Guide to your First 2 Weeks at Purdue

Summer is almost over which means it’s time to start thinking about getting back to campus! As a first time Purdue student you may be wondering what sort of things to look forward to during your first few weeks as well as tips to make the most out of this time. We asked our volunteers to create a “Guide to Your First 2 Weeks of College”. Here’s what current Boilermakers had to say about getting started.

Other Advice:
  • ·        Go to club callouts
  • ·        Walk your schedule before the first day of class
  • ·        Talk to the people on your floor
  • ·        Participate in BGR! It’s a great way to make friends
  • ·        Go to the Be Involved fair to talk to representatives from clubs on campus
  • ·        Go to all the dining courts to find your favorite
  • ·        Wear sunscreen!
  • ·        Get lots of snacks
  • ·        Use the syllabi on Blackboard to prepare for your classes (write down exam dates and times)
  • ·        Reach out to people you meet in your classes
  • ·        Hang out in common areas of the dorms. Other people are looking for friends too!
  • ·        Be yourself and reach out to people
  • ·        Step out of your comfort zone
  • ·        Take lots of pictures!
  • ·        Use syllabus week to get ahead in classes
  • ·        Set up your room when you move in so you can get comfortable
  • ·        Grab dinner/ice cream with your roommate
  • ·        Buy your textbooks after reading the syllabus. They usually give more information.
  • ·        Get a Den Pop!
  • ·        Go on a fountain run with your BGR group!
  • ·        Check out the Corec
  • ·        Go to Meet the Greeks if you’re interested in rushing

We hope you are inspired and excited to begin your college journey after reading some advice from current students. We can’t wait to have you all here in the Fall!
