Meet the Boilermakers - Making Friends at College

Image
When asked about their favorite part of Purdue, many Boilermakers immediate response is "the people". I meet with students and prospective students regularly to discuss their Purdue experiences. In every conversation, students bring up the welcoming environment and culture on this campus. I hope you feel great comfort and excitement looking forward to starting at Purdue this fall. We look forward to meeting you! Here's to stepping out of your comfort zone and meeting new people. Come fall, everyone is new here. Strike up a conversation. Spend time together. Enjoy your time at Purdue. It is wonderful and goes by quicker than you believe. Best of luck!

Boiler Gold Rush: Your First Taste of Purdue!

Image
Boiler Gold Rush Something that is unique to Purdue is our orientation program, Boiler Gold Rush. This week long acclimation to college is filled with fun activities, meeting new people, and getting to know campus. Boiler Gold Rush is so much more than just an orientation. That’s why Purdue has taken the effort to make it the most positive experience I personally have ever taken part in. The entire week is centered on finding your place, having people you can count on, and getting comfortable at Purdue. Before the week of BGR, you will find out who your team leader and hall team is. Your team leader is the person that will become your guide and friend while you learn all the amazing things that Purdue has to offer. You will spend the week with your hall team which consists of about 15 other new students in combination with a buddy hall team with another team leader and 15 students. Throughout the week, you will take part in games, info sessions, social activities, cheers

There are so many different ways to spend your summer from internships, to vacations, to hanging out with friends. See what some of our volunteers have planned for the summer...  " Here are some sights from Mason and Cincinnati (my hometowns). I will be working with my mom at Advantage Sales and Marketing, and adventuring parks and cities while enjoying baseball and NASCAR." -Alexa  Belegrin (Freshman) "I will be graduating in May with a degree in Industrial Engineering. I will be going to San Jose, California to visit my friend who works at Tesla. I will then move to Bowling Green, Kentucky to start my career at General  Motors at the Corvette Assembly Plant. I will stay healthy by working out every day. I will also eat clean and meal prep all of my meals. I also plan to get a puppy to keep me company while I am adjusting to a new city and starting my new life." - Chelsea Rowe (Senior) " This summer I’m working at Cook Research Inc. in
