Hidden Gems of Purdue and Greater Lafayette

When people first imagine Indiana, they tend to picture a very flat, corn-filled landscape. Though much of the landscape surrounding Purdue and the Greater Lafayette region is agriculture-focused, the heart of the region has much more to offer. From ice cream parlors and classic diners to relaxing walking trails and forests, there are many nearby treasures for students to experience during their time here. At Purdue, there are tons of amazing restaurants that students often visit, especially on Sunday evenings since the dining courts are closed. The Silver Dipper is a must if you are an ice cream lover. They have TONS of flavors to try and a fun atmosphere. Triple XXX is also a Purdue classic, famous for their historic root beer. Greater Lafayette is home to a unique downtown atmosphere filled with quaint restaurants of any cuisine you can imagine.   10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming to Purdue   Starting college for the first time can be a little scary, but knowing the right information can help a lot. Here is a list of ten things that we wish we knew before coming to Purdue to hopefully make your transition easier! 1. You are now in control. In high school, teachers took attendance and parents told us to finish our homework. However, in a lecture hall of 400 students, the professor won’t notice when you’re gone or if you don’t submit an assignment; the responsibility to keep up your grades is entirely on you. Make sure to keep yourself accountable and spend your time wisely. 2. Have a planner or calendar to record your daily tasks. There are many things to keep track of in a typical day.
