Image
With the early-action deadline quickly approaching on November 1st, 2024, it is essential for you to begin the application process. While this may seem intimidating, the early-action application is important for you future engineers! To help make your application process and decision a little easier, I am going to give you some reasons as to why you should come to Purdue University. The People The people at Purdue University are some of the most welcoming, exciting, and interesting people I know! The wide range of backgrounds at Purdue is extensive and extremely eye-opening. I can confidently say that the people that I have met at Purdue are some of the greatest friends I have ever had in my entire life. As a third-year student at Purdue, I made a lot of my current friends in the Living Learning Community in Meredith South during my freshman year at Purdue. This learning community allowed me to be surrounded by strong women who were also going through first

Taking the First Step: How to Approach the Internship Search

Coming into my senior year as a civil engineering major at Purdue, I have had the pleasure of having not one, but two amazing internship experiences in my time here. In my case, although both internships were with the same company, they were both extremely different. My first internship was in design with Kiewit Oil Gas and Chemical Engineering in Houston, Texas, where I worked as a structural engineer intern. My second internship was in construction with Kiewit Building Group in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I worked as a field/office engineer intern. Looking back, here are some tips I would tell younger me when it comes to hunting for an internship. While I am a sophomore this year, my first month at Purdue occurred a year ago. Let’s recap my first month at Purdue West Lafayette and how you can make the most out of yours! My BGR Team Leader Group Boiler Gold Rush Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) is Purdue’s orientation program. Last year when I was a new student, I had such an amazing experience that I returned to be a team leader this summer. BGR week includes some of my favorite Purdue traditions such as the fountain run, jumping the tracks, and drinking Den Pops! As an out-of-state student, I was worried about adjusting to college life and making friends at Purdue. BGR eased all of those fears. I made so many friends through my orientation group and my orientation leader made me feel very welcomed at the university. Since BGR takes place the week before classes start, I had more than e
