Top 5 Study Spots at Purdue

It’s almost Finals week at Purdue, and that means students will spend a lot of time studying. In order to make the best use of that time, I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 study spots on campus based on responses from women in engineering at Purdue.

1.       Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC)

WALC has a variety of environments to study in depending on your preferences.  There are many open areas that are great for collaboration.  If you prefer to study quietly, there is a reading room that is helpful when you need to focus and limit distractions.

The reading room has large windows to let in natural light and comfortable chairs that make studying more enjoyable.

2.       Hicks Underground Library

Hicks is another place that has several quiet study areas.  It provides an environment for effective studying and helpful resources like computers, printers, and classrooms with whiteboards.
This is one section of the Hicks Underground Library.

3.       Shreve Study Area

Shreve is a residence hall on campus, and on one side of the first floor, there is an amazing collaborative study area.  I lived in Shreve my freshman year, and it was a comfortable and thoughtful environment where I loved studying –  whether alone or with friends.

This picture shows the whiteboard tables that are convenient for discussing group work or working out a math problem.

4.       Third Street Suites

On the main floor of this building, there are booths and other couches and chairs to sit and work at.  There’s also a Starbucks, so it’s convenient to get some coffee to enjoy while studying.

This is a more active area with people walking through the building frequently, so it’s a great place if you like to study in a place with activity.

5.       Honors Library

A recent study spot addition to campus is the Honors Library. Located in the Honors residence hall but open to all students, the room has long tables and plenty of chairs to accommodate students interested in studying in the Hogwarts-like room.  Since it’s in the same building as a café, there is often free coffee and snacks available during finals week to support your studies.

The room is a beautiful place to make the most of finals week.

If you haven’t checked out these places yet, be sure to take a look – or even try studying at some of them!  Good luck to all students finishing up the semester soon and happy studying!
