The Conclusion of a Semester
It is the end of 2016! And with that comes the conclusion of
a busy semester for all of us Boilermakers…. And finals. Final exams receive a
lot of attention in college as they are usually a significant portion of your
final grade in a class and therefore require that you spend an adequate amount
of time preparing for them. However, amidst the stress of final exams, it is
just as important to make sure to take study breaks as it is to study. Below
are some tips for mastering finals week…
- Take breaks every now and then to keep your stress under control and help you gain a new perspective each time you come back to study.
- Here at Purdue, students find it very useful to utilize old exam archives for their classes to prepare for finals.
- Likewise, it is helpful to calculate your grades and determine which classes to prioritize studying.
- Make a study schedule by laying out specific times that you will work on practice exams for certain classes to help you time manage and prepare sufficiently.
Additionally, during finals week is the excitement of looking
forward to the next semester. This means a bigger change than it might have in
high school. In college it’s a fresh start with new club callouts, opportunities
to join different organizations, new classes, and new people. With such a large
university, you’re bound to make a lot of new friends and experience new
things. Your schedule will consist of different classes, bringing a fresh
routine and opening your eyes to new opportunities at Purdue. Winter break
offers the time to prepare for this transition and relax from a hard semester’s
work. We hope that all of you enjoy this time off and are excited to start a
new semester in January. Boiler Up!
