Spring Break Plans

As spring break approaches, students around campus grow anxious for the long awaited time off.  While many students vacation with their friends and family or travel home, there are so many other fun trips that Purdue offers.  Below are a few of the options.

Study Abroad: There are so many opportunities here at Purdue to travel the world and earn class credit while you’re at it! The school of Engineering offers short spring break trips such as the Chemical Engineering trip to Germany or the Engineering Field Investigation in a Multidisciplinary & Global Context in Australia. As an engineer, you aren’t just limited to the trips offered through engineering! There are other great opportunities such as Public Health and Healthcare in the Dominican Republic or Cuisine and Culture in France. Look online at https://www.studyabroad.purdue.edu/programs/search_results.cfm for more info about the 2018 trips!

Service Trips: There are many Purdue service organizations that plan a community service trip for spring break. Habitat for Humanity is a great organization on campus that works to build simple homes to eliminate poverty houses. Every year for spring break there is a collegiate challenge in different places around the United States as well as international locations. Purdue Timmy Global Health is another Purdue organization that works to expand access to healthcare and empower Purdue students to solve global health challenges. This year, Purdue Timmy Global Health is offering a domestic service trip to Atlanta, Georgia and an international trip to Quito, Ecuador. Our very own WE Link LT Megan is attending the trip to Atlanta! These trips are a great opportunity to meet fellow Boilermakers and give back to the community.

Student Led Trips: Go on a fun and adventurous trip with one of Purdue’s many student led organizations. Many different clubs plan spring break trips every year, and it is a great way to meet new people and explore new places. This year the Purdue Ski and Snowboard Club is traveling to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to hit the slopes. The Purdue Triathlon Club is traveling to Clermont, Florida to train and have fun in the sun! The Purdue Outing Club, an outdoor adventure club that partakes in activities like rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, backpacking, hiking, etc., plans a spring break trip every year that is available for their members. There are so many opportunities to participate in fun and adventurous trips!
