Prospective Students Chat with Current Women in Engineering

This year, WE Link expanded their reach to prospective students by inviting those attending Purdue’s for Me Days to chat with current women studying engineering. This event took place as an offered session at the end of the visiting student’s Purdue’s for Me Day which is an opportunity for admitted students to tour campus and hear from a variety of organizations and engineering disciplines at Purdue. In addition to about 15 current student volunteers from WE Link, our event included snacks and a slideshow of Purdue engineering facts!

The purpose of our event, “Chat with WIEP WE Link” was to be able to allow the prospective students to feel as though they could relate and share experiences with current students at Purdue. In many cases, this allowed for them to learn about current student’s journey to Purdue and their discipline in engineering. Students that were able to attend expressed how much they enjoyed being able to speak with actual students since they already had many opportunities to hear from faculty. For some, this experience even improved their chances of choosing Purdue as their home for the next four years!

Prospective students were able to approach the current students in a casual environment and have their questions answered and concerns debunked. We hope that this event can continue to grow and be part of the Purdue’s for Me days for years to come!

For any questions about this event or if you had an especially great experience speaking with us, please reach out to our team via our social media or email!
